Tips for Mushrooming

Please keep in mind, everyone’s experience is different and these are the tips we have found that guide us the best during our journey but it might not be the same for everyone else

Consumption tips:

Fasting: It's usually a good idea to consume mushrooms on an empty stomach to increase their effectiveness and reduce any possible nausea. Try fasting for a few hours before your planned mushroom session.

  1. Pair with Chocolate or Honey: The robust flavors of dark chocolate or honey can mask the earthy taste of dried mushrooms. You can grind your dried mushrooms and mix them into a small amount of dark chocolate or honey, then eat it straight or spread it on a cracker.

  2. Tea: One of the most common ways to consume dried mushrooms is by brewing them into a tea. It's straightforward, masks the often pungent taste of the mushrooms, and can help facilitate a smoother digestion. Here's a simple method:

    • First, you'll need around 1.5 - 2 grams of dried mushrooms for a light to moderate effect. Remember, it's better to start with a smaller amount and work your way up in subsequent sessions.

    • Boil water in a pot, then let it cool slightly (you don't want the water to be too hot as it might degrade the psychoactive compounds).

    • Add your finely chopped or crushed mushrooms to the water and let it steep for about 10-15 minutes.

    • Strain the liquid into a mug, add a bag of your favorite tea for flavor, and sweeten if desired. Sip slowly and enjoy.

  3. Lemon Tek: This method can quicken the onset of effects and potentially intensify the experience. Grind your dried mushrooms into a powder, mix with fresh lemon juice, and let it sit for about 20 minutes (but no longer, as it may degrade the active compounds). Then, drink the mixture straight. Be aware that this method can make the experience more intense, so use with caution if you're a beginner.

What to keep in mind when planning to consume:

  1. Mind Your Mindset and Setting: A significant part of a positive mushroom experience is related to your current mood and the environment. Try to ensure you're in a good headspace and a comfortable, safe, and relaxed environment before beginning your journey.

  2. Hydration and Comfort: Keep some water or herbal tea handy to stay hydrated during your session. Having comfortable clothing and a cozy setting can help enhance your comfort and overall experience.

  3. Companion: Especially for your first few times, it's helpful to have a trusted friend with you, preferably someone with experience in mushroom use, who can support and reassure you throughout the journey.

  4. Integration: The period after your mushroom experience can be just as important as the journey itself. Give yourself plenty of time to rest, reflect, and integrate your experiences into your everyday life.
